It’s estimated that 2.7 percent of men and 4.6 percent of women have dentophobia or a fear of going to the dentist. A regular dental check-up is vital for our health and should occur every six months or so. Many people find themselves putting off this potentially unpleasant event for as long as possible. Some just forget about their oral hygiene and dread the moment when their dentist asks them, “when was the last time you flossed?” All these people have valid reasons to find a trip to the dentist distasteful, but none quite to the extent of the young man whose story we will be examining today.

No one enjoys the process of getting their teeth fixed with braces. It’s painful and synonymous with the image of the dorky tween. Nothing beats the feeling of finally having your braces removed and debuting your brand new, symmetrical teeth. Not every procedure is simple and for one desperate young man, it would take more than a little anguish to finally experience that wonderful feeling.
